Because of its large size, the Big Island of Hawaii offers two airports, Kona on the West coast or Hilo on the East coast. Many airlines are now offering flights directly into Kona, though many travelers will fly to Oahu and then opt for an inner-island flight on to the Big Island often choosing to spend a few days in Oahu. From the Big Island, travel to other islands is also accessible and can be arranged by your Romance Expert prior to your trip.
Experience all but two of the world’s different climate zones on the Big Island of Hawaii, ranging from wet tropical to polar tundra, a result of the elevations and shielding effect of the island’s massive volcanoes. Much like the rest of the Hawaiian islands, there are generally two seasons: winter (November through April), when temperatures range in the low 70s to the mid-80s and summer (May-October), when temperatures range from the mid-70s to upper-80s. The trade winds keep the temperature comfortable on the island year-round.
Photo IDs and marriage applications are required for marrying in Hawaii. Our Romance Experts can help ensure you have all of the proper documentation needed.
